The Shaw's

Cleo - Greg - Janel - Sam - Angie -
Tucker
Shaw Cattle
Company is a second and third generation family owned and operated seed stock
operation dating back 60 years. Greg
and Cleo Shaw operate the ranch located in southwest
Idaho
, about 35
miles west of
Boise
, along with
sons & daughters-in-law, Sam & Janel and Tucker & Angie.
Shaw
Cattle Company’s sole form of income is cattle/bulls,
raising Horned & Polled Herefords, Black Angus and Red Angus cattle -
selling approximately 300 bulls annually by auction and private treaty.
We strive to raise sound, functional, fertile, high performance bulls for
the western rancher while selecting the most proven, high accuracy herd sires
for the program.
It
all started when Tom Shaw, Greg's dad, received a registered
Hereford
heifer as a graduation present in 1946. Greg joined the family operation
in 1968 and married Cleo in 1970. Greg and Cleo remained in business with
his family (Shaw Hereford Ranch) until January 1988, when they split from the
original corporation to form Shaw Cattle Co. They started raising Red
Angus in 1990 to meet customer demand. With the help of son, Sam, they
made the decision to add Black Angus breeding stock in 1997.
Sam graduated from the
University
of
Idaho
in the fall of 1999 and moved home to expand the extensive AI and records
program on all breeds. Tucker moved his family back to the family
operation from
Fargo
,
North
Dakota
in June of 2003 in an effort to raise his children with an agriculture
background.
Currently
there are four generations of Shaw's living on the ranch – right where Greg
grew up. In fact, Greg and Cleo live in the same house he grew up in,
although the silverware is in a different drawer than where his mother used to
keep it!
